AIBOC Celebrates 41st Foundation DayFour Decades of Strength, Solidarity, and Service to the Nation

Comrades,

As we step into the 41st year of our glorious journey, we celebrate not just an organisation but a movement — a saga written with sacrifice, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of officers across the nation.

The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) was founded on 6th October 1985, emerging from the quest for a democratic, militant, and inclusive platform for officers. Born out of the earlier AICOBOO movement, AIBOC represented a decisive shift — a movement by officers, of officers, and for officers — determined to safeguard our dignity, assert our rights, and shape the destiny of banking.

From inception, AIBOC has united officers from public sector, private, cooperative, and regional rural banks, giving voice to supervisory and managerial cadres who were often caught between responsibility and denial of representation. The confederation soon became the largest and most influential trade union of bank officers in India, known for the principled leadership and democratic functioning.

The Journey of Struggle and Achievement

The formation of AIBOC was not merely an administrative step — it was a declaration of resolve. Officers across the country rallied under AIBOC banner to fight arbitrary transfers, inhuman workloads, pay disparities, and unjust disciplinary measures.

Over the decades, AIBOC has led many significant struggles:
• Successfully negotiated wage settlements, ensuring fair and equitable service conditions for officers.
• Fought for parity of Regional Rural Bank officers with their counterparts in commercial banks.
• Defended public sector banks from repeated attempts of privatisation and dilution of social objectives.
• Stood against anti-worker policies, including attempts like the FRDI Bill, and constantly advocating 5-day banking, better work–life balance, and humane HR practices.
• Key architect of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), uniting nine major unions under a single platform.

Through every agitation, strike, and negotiation, AIBOC has held one principle high — that banks are not merely financial institutions, but instruments of social and economic transformation.

Championing Officers in the Era of Change

Today, as technology reshapes the banking landscape through AI, automation, and digitisation, AIBOC continues to guide officers towards a future that is both technologically advanced and ethically anchored.
AIBOC champions responsible innovation, continuous upskilling, and a future-ready officer cadre rooted in empathy, integrity, and professionalism — ensuring that the human touch remains at the heart of banking.

The Spirit Lives On

The 41st Foundation Day is not just a commemoration of the past — it is a reaffirmation of our faith in collective strength. It reminds us of the long road travelled and the challenges yet to be met: the fight for autonomy of public sector banks, fair performance-linked policies, dignified service conditions, and equal opportunity for all officers.

Let us mark this day with pride, purpose, and participation.
Let us celebrate the indomitable spirit of AIBOC — a symbol of unity, courage, and conviction.

Long Live AIBOC!
Comrades, March On!
