UFBU Declares All India Bank Strike on 27th January 2026 – Demand Five-Day Banking

Dear Comrades,

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has officially decided and declared an All India Bank Strike on 27th January 2026, demanding the introduction of Five-Day Banking, as agreed in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024.

Our recent agitational programmes, including demonstrations, badge-wearing, and the X/Twitter campaign, have received an overwhelming response nationwide. The hashtag #5DayBankingNow recorded 18.8 lakh impressions and over 2.85 lakh tweets, reflecting the united voice of the banking fraternity.

Despite this massive support and the fact that RBI, LIC, GIC, Central & State Government offices, and financial markets already follow a five-day work week with no loss of man-hours the Government has failed to act on the agreed recommendation of IBA.

Hence, UFBU calls upon all bank employees and officers to observe a total strike on 27th January 2026.
Let us march ahead in unity and make this strike a grand and historic success.
