Sreenath Induchoodan is a distinguished figure in India’s banking and trade union movements, widely recognized for his unwavering dedication to workers’ rights and outstanding service in the financial sector. Born on October 21, 1986, in Kerala, he comes from a family steeped in public service. His grandfather, Shri Ottasekharamangalam Janardhanan Nair was a revered freedom fighter and former Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly—an enduring symbol of social commitment and civic responsibility.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Kerala Agricultural University (2005–2009) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Kerala Law Academy (2018–2022). His professional journey began in 2010 when he joined Union Bank of India as a Probationary Officer.
Demonstrating both competence and leadership, he progressed through key managerial roles and currently serves as Senior Manager at the bank’s Regional Office in Thiruvananthapuram. His trade union journey commenced in 2011 and swiftly gained momentum. In 2013, he was appointed Regional Secretary for the Kottayam Region of the Union Bank Officers Association Kerala (UBOAK), and by 2015, he had risen to become General Secretary of UBOAK. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, following his election as General Secretary of the Kerala State Unit of the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) in 2020, was particularly impactful. His timely interventions helped secure favorable guidelines and protections for banking professionals during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.
Over the years, he held numerous influential positions at the national level. He has served as Deputy General Secretary, National Convenor of the Youth Wing, and Working President of the All India Union Bank Officers’ Federation (AIUBOF). He has also held the roles of Vice President and now serves as Senior Vice President of AIBOC—the apex trade union representing over 3.4 lakh bank officers across India, including nearly 22,000 in Kerala. Within the state unit of AIBOC, his leadership journey has spanned roles such as District Vice President (Kottayam), State Vice President, and since 2020, State Secretary. His pivotal contributions to the 9th Joint Note wage revision—including cost sheet preparation and bipartite documentation—reflect his deep understanding of financial negotiations and labor rights.
A seasoned legal practitioner, he has appeared in over 400 disciplinary proceedings within Union Bank of India, defending officers from Scale I to top executive levels, including General Managers and Chief General Managers. His legal expertise and principled advocacy have earned him widespread respect as a staunch protector of fairness in administrative justice.
Since 2018, he has also been serving as Director of the Chennai Cooperative and Thrift Society. His significant contributions to cooperative governance and board-level leadership have further strengthened the institutional integrity of this key sector.
Beyond his formal roles, he is a respected financial analyst, legal expert, and public commentator. He regularly features on leading news channels and All India Radio, offering insights on trade union affairs, financial governance, and public policy. As a Right to Information (RTI) activist and practicing advocate, he has been at the forefront of legal actions aimed at combating corruption and upholding employee rights. He is also a published writer whose articles have appeared in several newspapers, journals, and online platforms.
He is an active voice on social media, followed by thousands of bankers, legal professionals, and media figures across platforms such as Facebook. He leverages his digital presence to raise awareness on socio-economic issues, workers’ rights, and governance reforms.
As a passionate educator and mentor, he regularly conducts training sessions for banking professionals and trade union leaders. His sessions cover critical topics such as labor law, disciplinary procedures, service conduct regulations, and the evolving legal aspects of the banking sector. His clarity, depth of knowledge, and ability to connect with diverse audiences make him a sought-after speaker across India.
