Gross salary of employees disclosed – clarification & further action solicited

Dear Officers and Comrades,

We have been receiving numerous queries and concerns from various quarters regarding the recent publication of officers’ gross salary details on the Union Bank of India’s website.

To clarify, the said disclosure has been made under the ambit of Section 4(1)(b)(x) of the Right to Information Act, 2005, which mandates public authorities to publish monthly remuneration received by officers and employees. However, while this disclosure is legally mandated, it appears the Bank has selectively complied with this provision—publishing salary data while refraining from disclosing other equally important information required under Section 4(1)(b)(i–xvii).

This partial compliance not only undermines the spirit of the RTI Act but also raises serious questions about the Bank’s overall approach to transparency and accountability.

As the undersigned has filed a formal RTI application and has requested for some information, a detailed representation (Letter No: OFF/0112/2025 dated 27.07.2025) is submitted to Shri Nitesh Ranjan, Honourable Executive Director (HR), urging immediate and full compliance with Section 4(1) and Section 4(2) of the RTI Act. The representation calls for a comprehensive, uniform, and unambiguous disclosure of all information mandated under the Act—including but not limited to policies, decisions, transfers & postings, expenditures & budgets, transfer transparency, and administrative procedures.

We hereby circulate the full text of the letter for your information
