The Executive Committee of the Union Bank Officers Association (Kerala State), in its meeting held on 29th June 2025, unanimously resolved to establish a dedicated platform—Thanal Society for Cultural, Sports, and Welfare Activities.
This new initiative is aimed at promoting cultural enrichment, sports, healthcare, education, and charitable activities among bank officers. The society will be self-sustained through a minimal monthly contribution, which will be refunded at the time of retirement, ensuring long-term benefit without financial burden.
As part of its welfare focus, tie-ups with hospitals, hospitality providers, retail outlets, and other service institutions are being actively pursued to offer discounted and accessible services to members. The society also plans to manage guest houses, implement member-centric financial assistance schemes, and cater to the holistic well-being—health, life, and welfare—of its members.
Eligibility for membership is extended to all current UBOAKS/AIBOC members, as well as all Union Bank officers having Kerala as their domicile, including Pravasi officers posted outside the state.
The launch of Thanal marks a significant milestone in the Association’s journey. The society will act as a unified platform for organizing and managing flagship programs such as Dyuthi, sports tournaments, leadership development initiatives like Catalyst, preventive vigilance campaigns like B-WISE, and other cultural and educational engagements.
All services and activities of the society will subsequently be made accessible through a single, integrated mobile application, ensuring that members can conveniently connect with and benefit from everything Thanal has to offer—anytime, anywhere.
The name “Thanal”, meaning ‘shade’ or ‘shelter’, was thoughtfully chosen after receiving and considering suggestions from members—reflecting the society’s core values of support, solidarity, and growth. With the formation of Thanal, UBOAKS continues to reaffirm its commitment to creating a supportive and vibrant ecosystem for the personal, professional, and social development of its members.
